Exhibition: “Friends of a Lifetime”

Working on a new piece of art is a lot like discovering a new friend, and it’s been said that friends come into our lives for a season, reason, or lifetime. Many of my creations are of a season; they are experiments or simply don’t have “staying power” to hold long-term interest. I paint over these. Other creations are for a reason; the process of creating them helps me work through or internalize an issue or insight. I often paint over these as well. The paintings I treasure most are those for a lifetime. Most represent a creative break-through or capture one of those rare moments where the stars align, the creative process flows, and the piece literally creates itself. Below are 30 of such works.
